Technically, since the Joe Petruccio designed 1983-1990 New York Mets only wore v-neck pullover jerseys and belted pants instead of sansabelt baseball pants, their uniforms cannot be called the Ultimate Baseball Look. That said, their home uniforms from 1982-1990 which included pullover jerseys with the patented racing stripes are among my favorite. (The 1987 road uniform was the best). I do wonder how much better they'd be if they did indeed have sansabelt baseball pants as part of the set. Tom Seaver during his 1983 return to Queens, Keith Hernandez, the Petruccio sketch, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, the 1984 rotation which included Ed Lynch, Walt Terrell, Gooden and Ron Darling. The uniform Tom Seaver wore during his 1983 return to New York is the only Mets uniform we need to know. Dwight Gooden and Gary Carter in the 1987 New York Mets road uniform, the best in franchise history. Duke Snider and Dwight Gooden in the New York Mets greatest uniform. To my knowledge, the last time the Mets wore a version of their best uniforms was August 20, 2006 when Orlando Hernandez was pitching.
