1987 Bellingham Mariners

When Ken Griffey Jr. began his pro career in 1987, his first team was the Bellingham Mariners. During that short season, Griffey's Baby M's uniform consisted of a v-neck pullover jersey with racing stripes, sansabelt baseball pants with a striped waistband and stirrups, most likely recycled Seattle Mariners trident uniforms, nonetheless, it was the best looking uniform he wore during his entire career! The Ultimate Baseball Look! It has been brought to my attention that the Bellingham Mariners continued to wear the 1981-86 Seattle Mariners uniforms, the greatest in franchise history, thru the 1989 season! That is around the time I became a Mariners fan. To think the big league Mariners could have been still wearing cool uniforms then and chose not to anyway is heartbreaking. Seattle Mariners fans and players have suffered since 1987 and were subject to even more pain and punishment in 1993 when teal along with generic navy and silver were incorporated as the new color scheme. The fans want the star trident back, they want to eradicate teal from their lives and welcome royal blue and gold back with open arms. Repeal the teal! The star trident logo, pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants, royal blue and gold, are synonymous with the Seattle Mariners and Ken Griffey Jr., hell, Griffey wore the same colors in high school at Moeller.
