In my opinion, when factoring in both their home and road uniforms, the Pittsburgh Pirates looked their best between 1987-90. They wore v-neck pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants with striped waistbands and vertical stripes on the sides, a great look now known as the Ultimate Baseball Look! They were led by manager Jim Leyland and players such as Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonilla, Andy Van Slyke and pitcher Doug Drabek and his battery mate Don Slaught. The last season the Pirates wore real athletic wear, proper baseball uniforms was 1990. They lost to the Reds in the NLCS that season and the Golden Age of the Baseball Uniform concluded for the Pirates after that season. The Pirates need to return to this look again, ASAP! The fans and the players want pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants again! No more buttons and belts.

In 1971, following the Pittsburgh Pirates' footsteps, the St. Louis Cardinals began wearing athletic wear, crewneck pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants with striped waistbands and vertical stripes on the sides. In 1973, the Cardinals switched to v-neck pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants! A great era for baseball, now known as the Golden Age of the Baseball Uniform! Base stealing Lou Brock was one of the Cardinals' stars back then. There really is nothing better than the combination of pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants the proper length, mid-calf. It's now called the Ultimate Baseball Look! Here's several assorted shots of Lou Brock in the St. Louis Cardinals' Ultimate Baseball Look! The shot from the 1971 All Star Game with Joe Torre, Willie Davis and Roberto Clemente makes you wish the Dodgers had joined the Cardinals and Pirates in wearing proper baseball uniforms, pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants. Scenes like this don't occur today because current MLB uniforms are garbage and that's a shame.

The Portland Mavericks, an independent minor league team owned by Kurt Russell's father Bing, that played in the Northwest League from 1973-77 had great uniforms! Red crewneck pullover jerseys with racing stripes and sansabelt baseball pants, the Ultimate Baseball Look! Jim Bouton made his comeback with the Mavericks and Kurt Russell himself played with the team in 1973. The Mavericks are also the subject of a new Netflix documentary, The Battered Bastards of Baseball.

The Seattle Mariners need to go Back to the Future and once again adopt their 1981-86 identity! Adopt royal blue and gold as the color scheme again. Wear v-neck pullover jerseys with racing stripes! Wear sansabelt baseball pants with striped waistbands and vertical stripes down the sides. Once again use the star trident logo as the primary logo. It would be great for the Mariners satin baseball jacket to make its return to the dugout as well! It just makes sense. The fans want this to happen and they're ready for it! A Seattle Mariners star trident pennant! A Seattle Mariners trident logo hooded sweatshirt! A Seattle Mariners retro Fathead wall decal! Seattle Mariners "retro" star trident King's Court t-shirt and 'K' card! The Seattle Mariners' female fans want the trident back! Seattle Mariners star trident button! Seattle Mariners trident logo! Seattle Mariners Ichiro and Mike Brumley in the Mariners 1981-86 uniform on July 1, 2011! Ichiro scoring a run on July 1, 2011 in the retro uniform.

The Oakland A's became the first modern baseball team to win 3 consecutive World Series titles in 1974. The A's won 5 straight American League West division titles from 1971-75. When the A's switched to real baseball uniforms, pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants with a striped waistband, the Ultimate Baseball Look in 1972, they won their first of 3 consecutive World Series championships! Coincidence? No way! The team won their division again in 1975 but lost to the Red Sox in the ALCS and the team was broken up after that season. Here are several pictures from that era, owner Charlie Finley and the 1974 A's including, Rollie Fingers, Joe Rudi, Vida Blue, Gene Tenace, Bert Campaneris, Catfish Hunter, Sal Bando and Reggie Jackson. Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers, Vida Blue and a set showing 1971-73 skipper Dick Williams and several other key players in Oakland A's athletic wear, the Ultimate Baseball Look in the early years of the Golden Age of the Baseball Uniform!

From 1978-84, the Milwaukee Brewers had one of the better powder blue road uniforms during the Golden Age of the Baseball Uniform highlighted by an American League pennant in 1982! Pullover jersey and sansabelt baseball pants, real athletic wear, the Ultimate Baseball Look! We know about the Brewers' greatest logo, the 'mb' mitt logo that was introduced the same year this uniform was and the Brewers need to bring them both back! Here's Rollie Fingers, Robin Yount, Gorman Thomas, Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper and 1982 American League Cy Young Award winner and Major League star Pete Vuckovich, Robin Yount, the shortstop, in the Milwaukee Brewers' greatest road uniform!
