Tom Seaver pitched for the New York Mets from 1967 until he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1977. He won a Rookie of the Year award, a World Series title in 1969 and 3 Cy Young Awards during that span firmly establishing himself as the best Mets pitcher in franchise history. It wasn't until his return to the New York Mets for the 1983 season that he actually looked good in a Mets uniform. The Joe Petruccio designed Mets uniform which included a v-neck pullover jersey with both pinstripes and racing stripes is their best ever. Why they changed it in the first place is anyone's guess.
