If the 1985 and 1986 road uniforms of the Seattle Mariners are the greatest baseball uniforms only worn for 2 seasons, then the 1987 New York Mets road uniforms are certainly in the conversation for being the greatest one year wonder. V-neck pullover jerseys with the trademark racing stripes, but with unfortunately belted pants. The scripted "New York" is certainly superior to the block letters that came in 1988. Pullover jerseys with racing stripes is one of the few things that baseball has gotten right, aesthetically, in its history. We need more of this.
